Vicious Cycle: FYP
For my final year project I wanted to make a project that integrated my love for local multiplayer and, after a significant amount of further planning, I settled on making a 2D, twin stick shooter with couch co-op, and a thematic emphasis on upgrading and getting stronger [Hence the name, Vicious Cycle].
It's safe to say that I learnt a lot from working on this project, from learning some tips how to make and design a game that works with multiplayer, improving my use of game feel, and learning that despite how simple an idea or mechanic might be that it's always best planning on leaving spare time in case of a worst case scenario.
But ultimately I am over the moon with the outcome of this project, not only am I happy with the aesthetics, game feel, game play, sound, etc. but I am very pleased with how solid the programming is [although obviously the game isn't perfect and would have benefited from having more than 12 weeks to complete it]. I learned a lot from this project, both in terms of design skill as well as technical/ Unity skills and will be going forward with more knowledge, confidence, and ideas of what I'll do better next time.
